In today’s fast-paced world, security and operational efficiency are paramount for residential complexes. This is why M Central, a prominent residential and commercial complex in Sydney, Australia, sought to upgrade their outdated security camera system. A Brief Overview of M Central
M Central is an iconic residential complex located on the Pyrmont / Darling Harbour perimeter. The site, rich in historical significance, originally opened in 1882 as a wool store and has since evolved into a modern, loft-style apartment complex. It features 164 residential apartments, a 2600m² rooftop garden, and 6 retail spaces.
The Challenge
Before our intervention, M Central’s security relied on an outdated Movotics camera system that had been in place for over 15 years. The server managing the recordings had an expired license, and the camera technology was no longer up to the current standards. The need for high-quality video surveillance, especially for vehicle license plate identification and coverage of blind spots, was pressing.
Our Objectives
- Upgrading the camera technology to the latest standards.
- Increasing the efficiency and coverage of the surveillance system.
- Installing additional cameras in previously uncovered areas to eliminate blind spots.
We installed state-of-the-art 2K and 4K cameras from Ubiquiti, ensuring high-resolution video quality. The system was supported by Ubiquiti’s NVR (Network Video Recorder) for robust and reliable recording.
Implementing the Solution
Cameras were strategically placed in common areas, main entrances, parking lots, and corridors, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire complex.
Utilizing Ubiquiti’s Unifi Protect platform, the system is accessible via web and mobile devices, allowing for easy monitoring. In the supervision room, we installed 4K LG screens to assist in event detection, supported by Unifi’s artificial intelligence.
Training and Support
We conducted extensive training for building managers and security personnel to maximize the benefits of the new system. Additionally, we ensured 24/7 technical support and implemented a power redundancy system to maintain service during power outages.
